We're thrilled to partner with the Rancho Santa Fe School District for our pilot Chapter of The Frostys! As a Rowe Frosty, your child has the opportunity to participate in up to 4 sing-a-longs per year at local Memory Care communities - 1 per season. And prior to each sing-a-long, 1-2 lunchtime rehearsals are held. All Frostys and friends interested in the program are welcome at rehearsals to vote for songs for the upcoming sing-a-long and make Cheer Cards to share with Seniors. Mini-lessons about dementia and the power of music are shared during Frosty Rehearsals as well.
The Frostys is an all-volunteer program open to students in grades 4-8 at R. Roger Rowe Elementary and Middle School.
For Rowe Parents: use the link below to sign up! Then, look for a text to join the Frosty Parents WhatsApp chat, where all rehearsal, sing-a-long and event information is shared.
Visual cues can be helpful to people with dementia so we encourage festive holiday or patriotic accessories at all sing-a-longs (yes, a Santa hat in June :). And to connect as a group, every Frosty gets a red Frosty scarf.
Song selection is based on The Frostys research-based Songbook, which is full of music your child likely knows and loves. We sing a mixture of patriotic and festive songs to engage seniors and spark happy memories from their childhood. Examples include You're A Grand Old Flag, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Take Me Out to The Ballgame and, of course, Frosty the Snowman.
